Sri Aurobindo Ashram:

This is one of the most important tourist places in Puducherry (Pondicherry). It is a spiritual tourist place located just 200 meters from the seashore. 

Sri Aurbindo an Indian philosopher, settled in Puducherry in 1910 after retiring from political activities. He practiced spirituality and meditation along with his sadhakas (followers).  On 24 Nov 1926, he established this ashram and handed over the responsibilities to his followers to dedicate his time for spiritual work.  

This ashram has visitors from across the globe. It's a very clean and calm place to spend some quality time. This is must visit place in Puducherry. 

Sri Aurobindo Ashram visiting Timing:  07.00 AM to 09:30 AM & 04.30 PM to 06:30 PM 

Best time to visit: All time. During the summer it's very hot.

Parking Places: No dedicated parking place for ashram but vehicle can be parked on Roadside. Better to use local autos or taxi to visit different places.

Indian Rail: Viluppuram is the nearest railway station which is 35 km from Puducherry. It is well connected with Indian major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, etc.

 

Buses: The nearest bus station is Puducherry. Lots of buses are available from major south Indian cities like Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mysore, etc. 

  

Airport: The nearest airport is Puducherry which is well connected to major Indian cities.

 

Private Taxis: The availability of a private taxi or transportation is very good there.
