Sri Magudeshwar Temple Kodumudi

Sri Magudeshwar Temple

The Magudeswarar Temple is situated at Kodumudi in Erode district, Tamil Nadu, India. It is a very small, clean and nice place situated on the bank of the holy river Kauvery. This temple has its own importance due to some of the special reasons.

1. Kadumudi is the combination of two words, Kadu means hair and Mudi means head in Tamil. In this temple, Lord Shiva's hair is worshiped which is quite unique.

2. The sun's rays fall on Shiva and Ambal for a period of 4 days during Tamil since 14 April.

3. There is a special Lord Brahma puja performed. Before performing this puja, one has to take bath in the holy river Kauvery with the assumption that one has sacrifices present life and has taken rebirth.

4. Vanni tree which is thousands of years old and considered as a male tree as no flower on it.
